As a way for the gospel to be restored the United States was the proper host because it was open territory The only reason that the United States was a proper host for the gospel was because the new government established believed in people having their inherent and inalienable rights The people of the United States now have the agency to choose their own life and are given that right when this country was born The restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the founding of the United States are connected in more ways than just by coincidence It was by the power of God that it came to be at the perfect time and place It would have been impossible without God s guidance in establishing America to restore the gospel under the governments that existed at the time such as the Constitutional monarchy that was in place for the Spanish and the British While studying the Doctrine and Covenants I have learned that even with the perfect place and precise timing of the restoration it was still a very difficult time for the Latter Day Saints Had the United States of America not been through the revolution for their freedom the colonies would still be under church state rules that did not want for new churches to be formed And if no new churches would be established then Joseph Smith would not have been able to play the role that He was meant to by trying to decide if there was a true church on the earth The Revolutionary War and the rebellion of the colonists from the Church of England played a key role in the restoration of the gospel

Public virtue is where the members of the Church have an obligation to government and are motivated to do good within society Many church members should value the order and arrangement that a government should provide for its citizens By valuing the government the people should act responsibly while performing their civic duties Those members need to have the willingness to learn more about the government and have a desire to participate by voting for places in the government and by doing a citizen s civic duty by going to jury duty or voting for representatives in their local government Citizenship is another word for the obligation of Church members need to fulfill their duties to their nations and communities in was that coincide with their natural and inalienable rights that the government should give Governments were created by God for the people to benefit from the laws and guidelines that were made to help them Those laws and guidelines are there for a reason and that reason is to show a boundary where the people know that it is not safe anymore The laws are not supposed to be restricting in any nature The laws that are set in place are meant to protect an individual s freedom to certain things The governments are in place to not dictate which religion needs to be worshipped as a whole country If a ruler or government as a whole has done what is asked of them then the Lord will bless them in any way that he can

One of those blessings could be that the country will have a peaceful year or that the government will not have as many natural disasters Governments need to listen to the voice of the people when they vote and share their opinions on certain matters As a way for the people of the world to have free agency God had his son Jesus Christ carry the sins of the world and atone for the sins of others He gave us the agency to create our own future and not be on a path that we cannot decide We as people have the ability to choose right from wrong and to act for ourselves We have the right to create the life that we want not what anyone else wants While on this earth God has given us the agency to choose whether or not to keep his commandments By keeping his commandments we may have ways that will help our lives Each person has their own responsibility to choose what we should do To be accountable a person has to make sure that they can accept the consequences of their actions good or bad All consequences follow a natural result of the choices a person decides to make These are the reasons the gospel was able to be restored and have the citizens partake in voting for their representatives By voting for different places in the government the people can use their free agency Without the democratic and republican principles set in place the church would not have been able to grow into what it is now today
