In Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon the character Milkman goes through many changes and realizations Up until he reached his thirties most considered him to be selfish and egocentric Until he reached adulthood he was spoiled by the women in his family because he is male and the youngest He is considered wealthy compared to other people he lives around In the novel we see Milkman journey in finding his identity and what he see as the true meaning of life Although at the beginning of the novel we see Milkman s lack of interest in life and the important things like culture his strong love for materialism mostly inherited from his father and his lack of consideration for women shown in the way he treats them in the novel Towards the end of the novel while trying to find the gold Milkman takes an interest in where he and his ancestors come from he also starts to see his purpose in life and shows less of an interest in materialistic things he also develops a brief relationship with Sweet where we see that it is very different from his relationship with Hagar At the beginning of the novel it is clear that Milkman takes no interest in what many will perceive as the important things in life he cares more about materialistic things and how people look at him You can see this in chapter one when Milkman is looking in the mirror he starts to want to look for his identity

English Essay In Shakespearean time relationships differed greatly than what Macbeth and Lady Macbeth portrayed Their ambition and love for one another were demonstrated numerously throughout the play With the want for power Lady Macbeth takes control of her husband with her importance descending later on switching roles with Macbeth The relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth shifts throughout the play with the two characters individually seeking a more dominant role after the murder of King Duncan In the beginning Macbeth was a loyal soldier who was trusted greatly by his King The witches Prophecies had brought out his ambitious side but caused him to struggle with constant paranoia and distress after the murder of Duncan After hearing the prophecy Macbeth is said to become Thane of Cawdor Shortly after Lady Macbeth receives the letter explaining the prophecy Overcome with an urge to attain the power she insists on killing Duncan and overtaking the throne Macbeth replies with no intention of doing that terrible act stating We will proceed no further in this business He hath honored me of late and I have bought Golden opinions from all sorts of people Which would be worn now in their newest gloss Not cast aside so soon 1 7 34 39 King Duncan was a trusting man to Macbeth He didn t want to do such a harsh act to a friend someone he had once hosted while Duncan had honored Macbeth as a great soldier He had also worried about the consequences and what would happen to them if they were caught Taking more control over the situation Lady Macbeth had expressed how it had to be done Shortly after Macbeth gave in After proceeding with their plan of tricking the guards Duncan had finally been defeated After the murder of Duncan the first major change we see in Macbeth is with his mental state Along with hearing noises he hears voices speak to him where he describes Methought I heard a voice cry
