Gabby Douglas the 2012 Summer Olympics in London became the first African American to win the gold medal as individual all around champion when was only 16 years old She has also took home the gold medal for team USA in the team event That was her first American to win both However Gabby had to go through a lot go opticals to get to the point she is now Biography Gabriella Douglas was born in December 31 1995 She was born in Virginia Beach Virginia Douglas has 3 siblings Two sisters and one brother her parents names were Timothy and Natalie Arielle Her siblings were Jonathan Arielle and Joyelle Douglas Her sister Arielle a gymnastic and a competitive cheerleader She wanted teach Douglas the fun sport that she loved Douglas immediately picked up on everything that she was taught She even taught her self how to do the one handed cartwheel She began formal training when she was 6 and won a state champion when only 8 years old Gabby Douglas In 2010 Douglas moved away from her hometown and her family to pursue her training with the US Olympic Women's Gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics During that time she became the first individual all around African American to win gold The she also won the team Gold Medals at 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics Games In 2010 Douglas helped USA win a gold and more years the 2011 and the 2015 World Champions She placed first in the Olympic Trials Douglas had the highest all around score at 2012 American Cup However Douglas s scores did not count because she was competing as an alternate athlete so the scores did not count Gabby Douglas

Douglas was really good for only being 6 years old Her parents we so confident in every thing she did with that wonderful talent she had Her family sacrificed a lot to let Douglas continue her dreams After a lot of thinking her family decided to let her move all the way from Virginia to Iowa Her aunt Bianca Williams let Douglas stay with her so she could train at a higher level When she was living with her aunt she started to train with her coach Liang Chow He helped Douglas to pursue your goal Douglas accomplished so much She was awarded so many different things Her top awards that she got quite often was the uneven bars In 2010 she was the olympic champion ship and won on the uneven bars In 2011 Douglas was the world championship team on her American team Then in 2012 she earned a lot of different awards in every competition that she participated in She was awarded the highest score on the uneven bars in one of the competitions that was one of the very important competitions She also won the uneven balance beam Then in 2012 Douglas was awarded the female athlete of the year On 2015 she was tied with Madison Kocian on the American team Also Douglas was tied with Viktoria Komova and Dara Spirictva on the Russian team Then she was tied with Tan Jilin from China They all Lasting Influence Gabby has a lot of influences on other people about being black People would target her because she was black and how her hair was different then everyone else on the team People have said that she needs to fix her hair because all they see is clips They would say that she just pulls her hair up and she doesn't even care Douglass said that she tries to look off the internet and she kept her head in the game Douglass told people if people are criticizing you just try your hardest to put your mind of what you re trying to focus on Often some people would be very racist about Douglass They would point out every little thing that she did or was doing Some people would say she only good because she is black Being black has nothing to do with her being so good Douglass has set an impact to other Even if she was a different color it does not mean that she should be labeled However being labeled did not hurt Douglass It has inspired her to continue to work harder and change other black kids dream Even though it might not be as extreme as the Olympics
