The trend across industries to harness the volume variety and velocity of data coming into their organization and leverage actionable insight from that data is bringing about 4th Industrial Revolution with the Internet of Things With the number of connected devices 12 5 Billion surpassing the human population 7 Billion it is evident that there is big data flowing across the world However the challenge ahead is much more arduous with the phenomenal growth of data both in developing and developed countries and not to mention the capacity to handle and understand big data to decipher the information that counts also more importantly the possibilities of what we can do with it using big data analytics This realization burgeoned during my four years of undergraduate studies internships and work experience has motivated me to work towards becoming a competent Data Scientist In the future I intend to leverage the expertise gained through such impactful professional experiences to provide consultancy services to altruistic ventures that are working to make a difference in the lives of people in developing countries especially India This driving force has inspired me to pursue a Master's degree in the Interdisciplinary program with a specialization in the Data Science Track My under graduation at SRM University has given me a comprehensive exposure to courses like Information Theory and Coding Wireless Communications Java Computer Literacy that helped me build a solid foundation of both theoretical mastery and practical skills I gained an in depth knowledge about the concepts in calculus and statistical analysis through multiple courses in Applied Mathematics 

But it was through various challenging projects and technical workshops that I gained knowledge about the nuances involved in the field of Data Science During my summer vacation I worked as an intern at SS Technology where my role was to re engineer their market measurement product using an Analytical Application in their R D Department The effort included the data integration processes workflow automation developing user interfaces During the process I obtained much familiarity with Cognos SQL Server J2EE APIs and algorithms like k NN and Decision Forests as I tried to incorporate it in my Matlab application It helped me see a problem through different lenses as an engineer as an analyst and as a product owner Subsequently I had undertaken my final year project entitled Raspberry Pi based Home Automation System using IoT which was both reflections of my in depth incursions into Data Science technologies and my desire to experience the actual challenges in matching theory to practice This project was a remarkable learning opportunity for me in terms of technology prioritizing tasks performing failover tests and most importantly trying out multiple logical iterations for a single solution I also completed online courses in Python and R Programming with a grade A certification from John Hopkins University In addition to being one amongst the top scoring undergraduates in my college I had assumed leadership roles in several technical events based on which I was chosen as the Secretary General ITCE Fests during my final year It was a tremendous effort involving fundraising publicity and general management These experiences polished my interpersonal and leadership skills After graduation I joined Cognizant Technology Solutions as a Programmer Analyst 

Here I applied my statistical analysis knowledge and programming skills to a wide variety of data oriented projects I worked on designing enterprise wide Financial Models using Cognos TM1 which required implementing the planning solutions that allows forecasting and budgeting I developed Turbo Integrator scripts and algorithms to transform our client s data using report filters sorting multiple queries and conditional blocks from relational database like Netezza DB2 and SQL Server I used these expertise to successfully obtain my Big Data and Digital 101 Certifications from Cognizant and Cognos TM1 10 2 2 Developer Certification from IBM Elated with my contributions in the project I was given an opportunity to join the Digital Analytics Team and explored the possibility of integrating Python Programming with TM1 It was TM1 API in a concise Python framework TM1py facilitates Python developments for TM1 Later our Whitepaper on TM1py won the Best Innovation Award at the Digital Tech Fest 2 0 At XXX I wish to broaden and deepen my T skills in IT engineering business case analysis and general management from a diverse class industry tailored courses and world renowned faculty As a short term goal I aspire to be a Business Analyst to help alleviate existing business problems using cognitive solutions toolkit and identify new markets and implement dynamic business processes advanced engineering prototypes strategies to fuel cost effective product and service innovation I am of the conviction that my diverse experiences level of commitment along with my desire to excel shall make me a valuable addition to the program at XXX University
