Jamaica is a island with an total population just under 3 million people it is foundeeds in the caribbean which has only been recently reported that it has a high percentage of obesity diabetes and hypertension Jamaica is not that big of a island but it does indeed have a lot of people cooking food which leads to obesity and diabetes Obesity and diabetes are both caused by eating to much and moving to little the symptoms are known for body fat and very high blood pressure In jamaica they boiled their green bananas and wheat bread this is where the the most common high carbohydrate foods consumed by Jamaicans Chicken was one of the most popular meat they had while carrots and callaloo is the most highly consumed vegetables It was evident that Jamaicans eat a sizeable amount of foods high in fat cheese eggs and butter Interestingly enough using these foods decreased with the onset of diabetes hypertension and obesity About 2 8 million people pass away each year in a result of being overweight or obese Also heart disease deaths in Jamaica has reached a total number of deaths 2 166 or 12 11

The age Death Rate is about 77 16 per 100 000 of population ranks Jamaica Jamaica s creaky system constantly springs leaks that goes to the scarce water into the filthy streets unexpectedly More than half of the water that the NWC produces for Kingston ends up seeping out of leaky pipes or siphoned off by illegal connections It cost around 1 000 to install a storage tank so that they would have water for cooking and bathing Schools around the area would cancel school for days at a time due to water shortages Some Jamaicans have found ways for better water access Although some People were very mad or furious about having their water shut off in the first place

Some Jamaicans was resorting to separated their water from untreated sources which is a health concern according to Myrton Smith the president of the Medical Association of Jamaica Many Jamaicans also use other things to keep their water safe like for instance they would put them in barrels juggs bottles and other containers to store water for outages and those can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes that carry diseases like Chikungunya Zika virus dengue fever and ect In addition this happens to cause more deaths than there ever was Agricultural production has been beneficial to the region s tumultuous weather which includes seasonal hurricanes and occasional drought and ect Jamaica also produces a wide variety of produce for domestic consumption making a lot of money Also known as cash crops In 1996 the country produced 237 943 a lot of sugar its highest output since 1980 Of this total 181 183 metric tons of sugar were exported earning US 109 million families in lower socioeconomic groups and in rural also known as country areas usually these are larger than those in the middle or upper classes and in cities In addition some women in lower income groups have several children by different men known as baby daddies The dads refer to these women as baby mamas this can be common for the wives or girlfriends and are generally expected to provide financial support for children they dads

Fathers who do not support their children face social disapproval Although baby mothers are common many women prefer the social approval that comes with being married to their children's father It is becoming more common for both men and women to have more than one relationship though it is considered more acceptable for men than it is for women Having children prior to marriage is common In rural areas extended families often live together and child rearing tends to be a collective endeavor Rural homes often lack fathers who are forced to live away from their families in order to find the work necessary to support them In these cases the oldest child whether male or female often takes on the role of an authority figure as do adults in the extended family and in the neighborhood Parents are expected to ensure their children s general well being and access to education Children are expected to offer their parents respect and assist in household duties From a young age around nine years old they begin helping with the cleaning and laundry Girls also help with cooking Grown children typically live with their parents until marriage or until they are able to save enough to afford a place on their own since housing is generally expensive Adult children strive to ensure the comfort of their aging parents Many take pride in providing them with material support even purchasing them a home if they were never able to buy one themselves As parents become unable to care for themselves an adult child takes them in though rest homes accommodate those whose children live abroad
