Activity The antibacterial activity of the newly synthesized compounds 9a l 10a e and 11a e have been carried out with cup plate method7 by using nutrient agar medium against Gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus Streptococcus pyrogenes and Gram negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa Escherichia coli Ampicillin and Chloramphenicol were employed as references for antibacterial study The activity is reported by measuring the diameter of inhibition zone in mm Gentamycin was used as standard for comparison The results are presented in Table I and Table II I N 2 chloro 4 trifluoromethyl phenyl 4 sub phenyl 1 2 3 4 tetrahydro 6 methyl 2 oxopyrimidine 5 carboxamides 9a l All the compounds 9a l tested for their antibacterial activity and all the compounds displayed good bacterial activity The compounds 9c 9d and 9k showed potent activity with Gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and where as 9a and 9b active against Streptococcus pyrogenes
