202The population for the study consisted of the medium manufacturing enterprises small scale manufacturing enterprises Information from the entrepreneurs managers and office bearers were sought in order to analyze the problems in the functional areas as well as to assess the impact of the business environment consisting of the micro and macro environment Random sampling technique was used to identify the enterprises for the sample Considering the sampling variability an arbitrary number of 60 medium scale enterprises and 60 small scale enterprises were from Udaipur division 4 3 3 Profile of the Area of the Study Udaipur Division is one of the administrative geographical units called a division of Rajasthan state India The Udaipur division comprises of six districts namely Banswara Chittorgarh Dungarpur Rajsamand Udaipur and Pratapgarh 1 Banswara district Banswara District has an area of 5 037 km2 1 47 of Rajasthan state India The city of Banswara is the district headquarters It is bounded on the north by Udaipur District on the northeast by Pratapgarh District on the east and southeast by Madhya Pradesh state on the southwest by Gujarat state and on the west by Dungarpur

The well structured interview schedules were used for collecting primary data from the respondents The variables for the interview schedules were identified based on the research design and through literature review A pilot survey covering various entrepreneurs and Industries Extension Officers was undertaken The opinions of the DIC Managers the officials of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce and the officials of the MSME Institute were collected and used for the modification of the interview schedule The draft schedules were again tested with different entrepreneurs And it was found that the Pratapgarh Dungarpur and Banswara districts have less medium scale industries in manufacturing and service industries as compared to Udaipur Rajsamand and Chittorgarh districts The primary data were collected from Manufacturing and Service entrepreneurs from the medium scale sector and small scale sector The researcher personally contacted all the respondents for collecting primary data
