William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream Review

In William Shakesphaere’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream the play opens up with the discussion between Theseus and Hippolyta's wedding that is set to be in four days analyzing the love between Theseus and Hippolyta Theseus the Duke of Athens and the representation of power with in this play also displayed generosity Theseus is engaged to marry Hippolyta in four days time Theseus became engaged to Hippolyta the Queen of the Amazons whom is known for her symbolization of order in this play During a battle between the Athens and the Amazon people Theseus declares his love when during the battle when he injured Hippolyta and reminds her of the fact that she was defeated by Theseus when he says I wooed thee with my sword and won thy love doing thee injuries, in my opinion, this is not romantic at all however Theseus and Hippolyta seemed to have found love in war following Hippolyta s surrendering to Theseus This war was one of the obstacles they faced I find the love between Theseus and Hippolyta to be more of a mature and ideal love not just something out of a romance novel or drama made for television Hippolyta does seem to be happy about being engaged to a man she was just in battle with and she even seems content being his dream wife and it seems they understood the conditions and terms of their relationship and the roles each person would play within the relationship
