Terms of Service.
The agreement between you and Noplag when you use the product. Plain-language summaries open each section; the detail follows. Creating an account or running a check means you accept these terms.
These terms are the agreement between you and Noplag Labs, Inc. for use of noplag.com, the Noplag API, and the apps and integrations we provide. By creating an account or running a check you accept them. If you're agreeing on behalf of an institution, you confirm you're authorized to bind it.
Acceptance and who can use Noplag
You may use Noplag if you can form a binding contract and aren't barred under applicable law. If you're under the age your country sets for independent consent, a parent, guardian, or your institution must accept on your behalf. Institutions accept these terms — or a negotiated enterprise agreement — for the accounts they provision.
Where an enterprise agreement, order form, or Data Processing Agreement is in place, that document controls if it conflicts with these terms.
Your account
Keep your credentials secure and your contact details current; you're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at security@noplag.com if you suspect unauthorized access. For SSO and LMS launches, your institution manages provisioning and you authenticate through it.
Acceptable use
Use Noplag for its intended purpose — checking documents you have the right to check. Don't resell or sublicense the service, scrape it, probe or circumvent rate limits and quotas, upload content you have no right to submit, or use it to harass, deceive, or break the law. Automated access must go through the API under your own key and within your plan's limits.
Our integrity stance
Noplag is built for the integrity side. We don't ship a paraphraser, a humanizer, or any feature whose purpose is to help text evade detection, and using Noplag to reverse-engineer such evasion is a misuse of the service. The detector is a signal that supports human judgment; it isn't a tool for defeating other people's checks.
Tools that exist to make AI or copied text slip past detectors are on the other side of the line we're drawing. If that's what you need, Noplag isn't it — by design.
Plans, billing, and refunds
Free tier is free. Paid plans bill in advance on the cycle you choose; check-packs are pre-paid and drawn down as you use them. Taxes may apply. You can cancel anytime and keep access through the paid period; we don't pro-rate partial periods except where the law requires. We'll give notice before any price change affecting your renewal.
Your content and the licence you give us
You keep all rights to the documents you submit. You grant Noplag a limited, revocable licence to process them solely to run your check, produce your report, and operate the features you've enabled — nothing more. Document handling, retention, and the opt-out Noplag Database are governed by the Privacy Policy. We never use your documents to train models.
The open-source engine
The Noplag detection engine is released under the Apache License 2.0. You're free to run it yourself under that licence; the Apache terms — not these Terms of Service — govern your self-hosted use of the code. The hosted service, corpus, and trademarks are ours and are licensed to you only through these terms.
What the report is — and isn't
A Noplag report is a similarity and AI-likelihood signal to support a human decision. It is not a verdict, a guarantee, or legal advice, and we don't warrant that any report is complete, error-free, or dispositive in an academic, editorial, or legal proceeding. The service is provided as is to the extent the law allows. You're responsible for how you act on a report.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Noplag isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the prior twelve months or US $100. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Suspension and termination
You can close your account anytime; doing so triggers deletion under the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms, create risk for the service or other users, or where the law requires — with notice where practical. Sections that should survive termination (content licence wind-down, disclaimers, liability, governing law) do.
Changes to the service and these terms
We improve the product continuously and may change or retire features. We may update these terms; for material changes we'll post the new version here and notify account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use Noplag after that means you accept the update. The date at the top reflects the current version.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws stated in your applicable order form or, absent one, the laws of the jurisdiction where Noplag Labs, Inc. is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Questions about these terms? Email legal@noplag.com.
