At the start of the 1900s Europe was the main global power With empires such as Britain France Germany and Italy establishing colonies all around the world for example the Scramble for Africa which took place in 1884 until 1914 With imperialism and colonialism on the rise thus nationalism and militarism began to hold place in the European powers Empires such as the British and German began to compete against one another for who had the bigger military Other empires such as Austria were having trouble maintaining as a whole due to revolutions such as those of Serbia With all these conflicts in affect the world was narrowing down to a war such as WWI and it would eventually lead on to start WWII There were many differences between WWI and WWII such as warfare tactics and new technological advances Although there were many differences there were still similarities between WWI and WWII such as the similar composition of both groups fighting in the war the Axis and Allies In the beginning of WWI there were many warfare tactics used but the most notorious would be trench warfare Trench warfare consists of two armies or more on opposite sides of each other with a chunk of land in between them better know as no man s land What trench warfare consists of is two armies facing each other and shooting at one another from man dug trenches

The flaw was this tactic was that it would cause a stalemate Neither side would win since reinforcements could be sent fast and if won there would only be a few feet of gain in land The beginning of WWI was different many other tactics were used such as blitzkrieg One of the most notorious empires to use blitzkrieg was Nazi Germany in WWII Germany would use such tactics against Poland in the invasion of 1939 Blitzkrieg consists of short fast and powerful attacks in a attempt to unbalance the enemy by making it difficult to respond to changing fronts hence Blitzkrieg meaning lightning war Another significant difference between WWI and WWII would be the introduction of radar In WWI one of the only ways to determine where an enemy was located was by airplanes Airplanes were introduced in WWI and were mainly used as reconnaissance which means exploration of an unoccupied ally area Reconnaissance was used to find and gather information of the enemy presence At the start of the 1900s Europe was the main global power With empires such as Britain France Germany and Italy establishing colonies all around the world for example the Scramble for Africa which took place in 1884 until 1914 With imperialism and colonialism on the rise thus nationalism and militarism began to hold place in the European powers Empires such as the British and German began to compete against one another for who had the bigger military Other empires such as Austria were having trouble maintaining as a whole due to revolutions such as those of Serbia With all these conflicts in affect the world was narrowing down to a war such as WWI and it would eventually lead on to start WWII There were many differences between WWI and WWII such as warfare tactics and new technological advances
