BURJ KHALIFA INTRODUCTION From the sands of the Arabian desert rises the tallest man made structure on earth a city in a sky nearly a half a kilometer tall that is height of 829 8 m 2 722 ft and a roof height excluding antenna of 828 m 2 717 ft The Burj Khalifa also known as Burj Dubai is the mega structure of Skyscraper Engineering which is the tallest structure in the world since 2008 The Construction of The Burj Khalifa was started in 6 January 2004 with which the exterior of the building completed five years later in 1 October 2009 The Burj Khalifa was inaugurated on 4 January 2010 as part of a new development policy of the country called Downtown Dubai The decision to construct the building was based on government decision to diversify the economy of the country from oil based economy to more like tourist based or business based economy so that Dubai could gain International recognition Burj Dubai was the original name of the building but it was changed to Burj Khalifa in order to honour the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of UAE Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Burj Khalifa was designed by Adrian Smith Skidmore Owings Merrill SOM who also designed the Willis Tower And World Trade Center The primary contractor was Samsung C T of South Korea The tower s construction was done by the construction division of Al Ghurair Investment group The skyscraper at that time surpassed Taipei 1o1 and now the second largest building in the world is Shanghai Tower in China The Burj Khalifa is to made as a multi complex town which includes nine residences a shopping mall and entertainment facilities etc The Burj Khalifa Project Projects are different from the daily routine business activities which consist a team procedures measurable outcomes and policies Because of these different irregular activities i e project bring measurable outcomes and opportunities Project management is the application which consist the set of aims objectives and methods which is performed so that one could achieve a goal task within a given amount of time budget and standard or quality
