Intro Darwin's theory of evolution forever changed evolution Somethings of his theories have been modified a little bit but for the most part it is still the same Darwin's ideas have made life different because of his finding in the finches on the Galapagos islands biography Darwin was born on February 12 1809 He was the fifth child of Robert and Susana Darwin He was born is Shrewsberry England James R Farr In 1825 he attended Edinburgh university He also attended John Stevens University to learn about botany He later received his bachelor's degree in botany in 1831 Gale After he graduated college he went to work on the HMS Beagle He worked on the crew for five years He rejected catastrophism because of what he was seeing in the land in south america Darwin also discovered that evolution was an ongoing struggle In 1859 a big storm of protesters were saying Darwin's theory on specialization was wrong James R Farr He also argued with many people that earth was millions of years old and not just hundreds of thousands Darwin was the first person to propose natural selection

He studied the birds on the Galapagos islands off the coast of Ecuador He studied the finch because they helped him better figure out evolution Because they all had different beaks for the different things they ate Darwin's theory is not grounded in theology or ethics Darwin also said one animal may prey on another animal for survival Darwin better helped the world of science for all of his findings on the Galapagos islands learning about the finches Because he learned that things evolved from other things His findings also taught us that everything is different and has evolved overtime That is why he was the leader in evolution part 4 When Darwin left from England in 1831 on board the HMS Beagle It was going to be a long five year journey Darwin had little ambition for groundbreaking scientific research The ship was going to south Africa While on the journey the ship stopped on the Galapagos Islands During that stop Darwin noted that animals were similar from island to island He also noted that the animals adapted perfectly to their environment Darwin also thought that the finches were from the same lineage and he was right Because he would later find that natural selection was true because he looked at the previous finches and he discovered that all of their beaks were different The beaks were different mainly because all of them would eat different things For example the woodpecker finch descended from the Warbler finch because it had the same beak He also learned that the shape of the beak helped them to eat Lerner He was born on February 12 1809 in Shrewsbury England he was the fifth child of Robert and Susannah Darwin His dad was a successful doctor and so was his grandfather Erasmus Darwin who had a great influence on Charles s later theories

He wanted to be just like his grandfather and his father James R Farr At the age of nine Charles entered Shrewsbury School He was a very poor student and didn't do much in class In 1825 Darwin went to Edinburgh University in Scotland to study medicine but he realized that he was unable to even watch an operation being performed In 1828 he entered Christ's College in Cambridge England to become a minister He gave up that idea also but he continued to study He then attended John Stevens Henslow s course in botany started a collection of beetles that became famous and read widely He received his bachelor's degree in 1831 In November 1859 Darwin published one of his first books ever It was called the origin of species by means of natural selection His ideas in that book had some very interesting things about what he saw when he examined the finches Darwin had gotten all of his findings from when he was on the HMS Beagle It says in the book that when animals give birth then they pass their traits down to their offspring causing them to evolve An english philosopher by the name of Herbert Spencer created the name survival of the fittest to help people better understand Darwin's thoughts This book also brought him worldwide attention but this attention was bad because it caused him to try to answer there questions by creating five more books It also caused him to think that he was not right in his findings The book was originally written for non specialist readers Lerner Part 5 It says in his book called origin of species by means of natural selection It says that when animals give birth then they pass their traits down to their offspring causing them to evolve An english philosopher by the name of Herbert Spencer created the name survival of the fittest to help people better understand Darwin's thoughts That name he gave it helped people better understand more about evolution and how it all works That name also got him a little bit of to much publicity James R Farr Conclusion There has been lots of controversy over his theory He has left an big impact on science And found many things out
