Macbeth is a very interesting book with lots of good intentions but turn out to be bad The book was placed in 1606 and takes place in Scotland during the medieval times Macbeth meets a group of three witches and is told that he himself is going to become thane of Cawdor and then finally become King The three witches play a big factor in this book or do they After a tough battle on their way home Macbeth and Banquo stumble into three witches who say Macbeth will become king All hail Macbeth Hail to thee thane of Glamis All hail Macbeth Hail to thee Thane of Cawdor All hail Macbeth that shalt be king hereafter Act 1 Scene 3 Line 51 53 At first Macbeth is a little skittish about them then he hears them say he will become king hereafter and his attitude changed He wanted to know more but the witches wouldn t say another Also after saying Macbeth will come to be king the witches say Banquo s children will become king as well Banquo at this point is fully trusting of the witches Macbeth is still on the fence but after the witches predicted he would become thane of Cawdor he was set in stone After hearing about his prophecy he goes off and writes a letter to his wife about what happened His wife is very excited and doesn t think twice about what she just read and has decided that she will make Macbeth King She worries that Macbeth lacks the cruelty he needs to murder Duncan and rationalize the witch s prediction Lady Macbeth discovers Duncan is approaching to visit she requests supernatural agents to fill her with cruelty because she needs evil power and doesn't have any in her soul

Macbeth arrives and Lady Macbeth says that she will take control of the planning for Duncan s visit and for his murder While everyone was asleep Macbeth grabbed a dagger and killed the King After the murder he became very paranoid In act 2 scene 2 he says Didst thou not hear a noise Line 19 Methought I heard a voice cry sleep no more Macbeth does murder sleep the innocent sleep sleep that knits up the raveled sleeve of care the death of each day s life Sore labors bath balm of hurt minds great natures second course chief nourisher in life s feast Lines 47 52 After Macduff discovers that the king is dead he and Lennox come out of the bedroom and there s a crowd of people standing there and mourning the death of their king Malcolm and Donalbain arrive on scene and they are told that their father has been killed most likely by his chamberlains who were found with bloody daggers Macbeth declares that in his fit of rage he has killed the chamberlains Macduff seems suspicious of this new death which Macbeth explains himself by saying he was so furious at Duncan s death was so powerful that he could not contain himself from killing them Lady Macbeth suddenly faints and both Macduff and Banquo call for someone to attend to her Malcolm and Donalbain say to each other that they are not safe They thought that whoever murdered their father will probably try to murder them next Lady Macbeth is taken away while Banquo and Macbeth gather the lords to meet and discuss the murder Duncan s sons decide to flee the court Malcolm announces that he will leave and go south to England and Donalbain will rush to Ireland Macduff tells Ross that Macbeth has been confirmed king by the other lords and that he rides to Scone to be crowned King

After he had been crowned king Macduff had left the country and gone to England He was furious that Macduff had left the country and not attended his coronation so he decided that Macduff was a traitor and took it out on his family by having his wife and family murdered This outraged Macduff and he had Malcom come down to England so they could group up and fight against Macbeth Macduff finds Macbeth and announces that he is not strictly speaking a man born of women having been ripped prematurely from his mother s womb Act 5 Scene 8 Lines18 20 he is then afraid to fight He only battles because MacDuff threatens to capture him and display him as a public display Macbeth is defeated in the fight and is killed by MacDuff MacDuff then cuts off his head and brings it to Malcolm Malcolm is now the King of Scotland Macbeth was self-deceived after hearing the witches prophecy because the witches never said how he would become king he merely decided himself how he was going to become king which happened to be killing his way to the top spot The witches didn t deceive him he was self-deceived because he was so anxious to become king
