No it s Not Your Opinion You're Just Wrong I am a very argumentative and stubborn person and I have always felt confident in the things which I debate about as well as the manner in which I do it however after reading this passage I was exposed to the truth about my misplaced arguments The author of No It s Not Your Opinion You re Just Wrong UPDATED explains how too often we allow our opinions or biased thoughts on a subject to sway our understanding of what a fact actually is In the passage many examples of invalid and misplaced opinions based on false facts and personal beliefs are shown and clearly support the author s thesis that opinions can be wrong The author of No It s Not Your Opinion You re Just Wrong UPDATED states that believes like the belief that vaccines cause autism does not move your misconception into the realm of valid opinion thus expressing the fact that opinions can be wrong when based off of incorrect facts or data Many times we don t realize that the things we think we know are actually just misguided opinions that make us sound like ignorant and oblivious individuals in the face of those whom are educated and the author flawlessly expresses his discontent at those who truly believe that autism can be caused by the very vaccines which prevent diseases Although we are constantly told that our opinions can never be wrong and will always be accepted basing those opinions off of wrong information will leave you humiliated as you realize that your knowledge of credible data is nothing but an illusion caused by your need to defend your opinion Perhaps one of the most logical ways in which the author of the passage explains himself is when talking about how people believe that whites face as much discrimination as people of color even though that out of the

 Fortune 500 CEOs only five are black therefore the people who claim whites are discriminated against as much as people darker skin are obviously ignorant of the unemployment rates of blacks versus whites While there is such a thing as discrimination of Caucasian individuals it does not begin to compare to the amount of prejudice and ridicule faced by African Americans or other races of darker complexions The opinion that whites are discriminated as much as blacks is based completely on one person s experience however that person must be completely oblivious to the contrasting percentages of hate crimes between the two races of people and therefore came to the conclusion of her his opinion No matter what anyone tells you not all of your opinions can be excused as just opinions for they might have drastic consequences in which the way people around you view a situation the sooner we accept the fact that some opinions are just not valid is the sooner that we crawl out of the frightening depths of ignorance and stupidity Ignorance is everywhere but none more prevalent than in the White House for some of the individuals who are supposed to be the most educated and elite group of people tend to make the most ridiculous comments most of which are fact less and baseless 

Having said this I am reminded of just around this time last year in which my not so bright friend made a comment on how he truly believed that our current president Donald J Trump had the biggest crowd in his inauguration than any other president After making this claim I was on the brink of breaking out into laughter for it was a ridiculous statement President Donald Trump had around 750 000 people attend his inauguration while in President Barrack Obama s 2009 inauguration there was nearly 1 8 million people who attended and after making this clear to my friend he was then left embarrassed by the level of his ignorance and lack of knowledge In another interaction with the same friend he stated that he thinks that the wage gap between men and women is a complete and utter lie and this was solely because he claimed his mother made more money than his father His misplaced opinion was due to his lack of actual facts which prove the wage gap s existence as well as his shortage of experience outside the walls of his home I have seen through my dear friend that no matter the opinion if it is based off of missing facts and nonexistent data it is most certainly WRONG After reading the passage and soaking in the author's thesis I have realized that I must do everything I can to validate my opinions with sufficient data and facts for a person cannot and should not live their lives being looked down on by those who have true knowledge To reach the standards which I have set for myself for this class I must try to justify and authenticate the arguments and statements which I am trying to get across I cannot rely solely on the extravagant words which may surround my opinion for I can make an opinion appear stunning but unless I have information to ratify my beliefs I can never make it RIGHT
