Abstract Scientist come up with different types of personality theories to understand a person's Behavior Consequently they used psychoanalysis humanistic neo Freudians traits and social Cognitive perspective I will be concentrating only some theories for example trait perspective Surface vs source traits and the five factor theory best well known as openness Conscientiousness extraversion agreeableness and neuroticism All of these contribute to the Differences between individuals and their traits because of their genetic differences These Theories are sometimes referred to as psychometric theories Personality 3 Introduction Usually when we talk about someone's personality we are talking about what makes that Person different from other people perhaps even unique person different from other people Perhaps even unique but personality has an even deeper definition Personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking feeling and Behaving The study of personality focuses on two specific areas which is sociability knows as The quality of being social And irritability also known as short temper Personality can also be Defined as the set of habitual behaviors cognitions and emotional patterns that evolve from Biological and environmental factors or Trait based personality theories for example those Defined by Raymond Cattell defined personality as the traits that predict a person's behavior

Each person has their own individual difference and it is mainly focused on by trait perspective Or also known as an approach to the study of human personality There are many psychologist Known for his psychometric research but the one that stood out more to me was Raymond cattel which believed that 16 factors represented the essential source traits that made up Individual personalities And predicted that if someone had the trait of being timid or shy And if they were then they would be extremely shy and avoid others or a shy enough to an Extent that you do not like to speak in front of large crowds Zimbrado 2014 I opinion that personality has many different types of personality and traits which defer by our Genetics and the specific stages we have gone through throughout our life Personality 4 Trait perspectives Trait perspective is used every time we describe our friend or a family member Traits are Those identified by patterns of behavior or conscious that motivate and describe someone's Behavior or personality The purpose of a trait theory is to try to identify and describe also Measure those differences of an individual These theories can rage in a variety but some Examples are the tendency to be active or sociable also the ability to be a person oriented and Also the qualities of being talkative optimistic and empathetic Surface vs source traits Surface traits are traits that we utilize when we are describing friends or family These Traits are easily identified when we are observing someone's behavior

The list of these traits Are so Long that a psychologist by the name of Gordon Allport which discovered more than 4 000 Words in the dictionary that could be used to describe personality All of these traits give a Forward to the surface traits On the other hand other theorist believe that there only exist a Few true source traits Five factor theory Psychologists believe that there are five basic dimensions of personality often referred To as the Big 5 which include openness referring to someone that does not like to be Exposed to alternative moral systems Conscientiousness having to do with someone that is More unreliable and careless Another one of the big 5 traits is extraversion connecting to Someone that prefers to have for example a quiet evening than to be partying with loud music Also agreeableness forwarding someone that is very manipulative and very uncooperative Also referred to as rude These 5 reflect on those traits that have been most important on Helping us to survive Personality 5 Reaction Raymond cattall believed that 16 factors represented the essential source traits that Make up human personality His goal was also to fully determine and measure the essence of Personality As a result he created the 16 pf personality test Which focused on measuring the Primary factors of normal personality Each trait represented a dimension that ranges between Two extremes For example if someone was timid or shy u could be extremely shy and avoid Others or a little shy to an extent that you do not like to speak in front of a large crowd

Then Came Hans Eysenck a British psychologist who proposed an even simpler model of source traits He believed that personality were based on biological differences among people His belief was Said that 2 dimensions could be mixed to classify 4 basic types of personality in attempt to seek The perfect theory of personality the big 5 was discovered and labeled as the essential Building blocks of personality Zimbardo 2014 Conclusion To sum it all up psychologist have their own perspective towards human Personality and its way of developing it Which led them to believing in their own models and Trait theories For instance Raymond Cattel Which believed that only 16 factors demonstrated The main traits that create someone's personality While on the other hand psychologist Hans Eysenck proposed an even simpler model which showed that individual differences where due To biological differences among people While psychologist were in search for the best theory Of personality the discovered the big Five which reflected those traits used by an individual to Survive
