In order to have an overview of the trends in the leadership styles of managers of various institutions published and unpublished literature including Pakistan and foreign theses articles in national and international journals research papers case studies working papers and paper presentations from 1981 to 2016 have been considered 2 3 Research Instrument A well structured questionnaire will have prepared with the objective of collecting all relevant information required for achieving the research objectives Detailed discussions with managers and employees of selected public and private sector organization and also with the academicians helped in identifying the relevant variables to be included in the questionnaire This questionnaire will have administered after a pilot study and consultation with an expert in applied statistics 2 4 The Population Primary data will have collected from the employees and managers of selected public private sector

The population of employees includes all employees of clerical cadre and above working in the selected public and private sector Similarly the population of managers includes all the leader managers organization managers senior managers assistant managers and employee working in the selected public and private sector organization 2 5 Pilot Study A pilot study will be conducted by using of questionnaires one for collecting data from the managers and the other from the employees The questionnaires will be distributed among 50 managers and 50 employees of public and private sector organization The collected data from the respondents will also be studied in detail with the variance reported to incorporate changes in the questionnaire Thus a Reliability Analysis will be done on the responses of employees pertaining to the leadership styles of the managers of public and private sector The 50 questionnaires for Public Sector Managers consisted of 18 statements recorded on a five point scale to analyze the impact of factors affecting the leadership styles and another 50 questionnaires for Private Employee statements to compare the leadership styles of managers and employees Public and Private Sector CHAPTER 3 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY The present study is descriptive and analytical in nature and attempts to describe the leadership styles of managers of selected public and private sector organization Moreover it analyses the factors that influence the leadership styles of managers and the impact of these factors on various leadership styles of those managers It also makes a comparison of the factors affecting leadership styles with the demographic profile of managers working in public and private sector organization 3 1 Data Collection Sources Both primary data and secondary data have been used for the study Primary data will have collected from the sample managers and employees of both public and private sector using a structured questionnaire Secondary data relating to the history of organization and the number of branches in organization will obtained from the official websites of the selected organization and the details about the number of employees of the selected organization will obtained from the Head Offices Employees 3 2 Data Collection Tools A well structured questionnaire will be prepared with the objective of collecting all relevant information required for achieving the research objectives Detailed discussions with managers and employees of selected public and private sector organization and also with the academicians helped in identifying the relevant variables to be included in the questionnaire This questionnaire will be administered after a pilot study and consultation with an expert in applied statistics 3 3 Participants 3 3 1 Target Population Primary data will be collected from the employees and managers of selected public and private sector The population of employees includes all employees of clerical cadre and above working in the selected public and private sector Similarly the population of managers includes all the Leader managers organization managers senior managers and assistant managers working in the selected public and private sector organization
