The government can create and enforce antitrust laws regulate monopolies tax the people etc What can the people do This is where people often debate about not having enough power The Declaration of Independence U S Constitution and Common Sense by Thomas Paine present powerful emotions regarding individual liberty and a strong government For example The Declaration of Independence The Declaration of Independence is a statement acquired by Second Continental Congress demanding the separation of the thirteen colonies under British rule in 1776 In the Declaration of Independence Jefferson stated That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it and to institute new a Government laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness indicating people have the right to dismantle or reform the government if they get out of course Jefferson believes if a government is being abolished is because of continuous violations A government is rarely overthrown Jefferson also mentions about reconciliation They were returned with more punishments and restrictions thus addressing the king as a tyrant ruler In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant is unfit to be the ruler of a free people states Jefferson I agree with Jefferson 



A king should listen to his people and assist them as much as he can Soon the thirteen colonies obtained their independence in 1776 In fact James Madison and 56 other representatives gathered in Philadelphia in May 1787 to form a new constitution Madison representing Virginia became a chief recorder of information Soon to create the U S Constitution The U S Constitution states We the People of the United States in Order to form a more perfect Union establish Justice insure domestic Tranquility provide for the common defence promote the general Welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America symbolizing in order to establish a stable environment settle fairness provide protection etc they must obey a set of significant laws Even the government has to follow the set of laws Section 2 of Article 1 of the U S Constitution provides information about the United States House of Representatives It states The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature People have to right to choose their representatives There are rules to follow also For example you have to be older than 25 years of age No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States and who shall not when elected be an Inhabitant of that

 State in which he shall be chosen stated in Section 2 Article 1 The 10 amendments to the constitution make up the Bill of Rights The Bill of Rights written by James Madison is limits of power to the government For example the right against unreasonable searches and seizures is protected by Amendment IV stating The right of the people to be secure in their persons houses papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated and no warrants shall issue but upon probable cause supported by oath or affirmation and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized Every amendment shall not be violated by any individual The U S Constitution is an excellent statement limiting power to the government Hence preventing further overpowered violations Common Sense by Thomas Paine is a pamphlet supporting independence to the thirteen colonies from Great Britain In Common Sense Thomas Paine argues about the decision to remain under British rule or fight for independence and violations done by the King of Great Britain According to Paine it's important not to confuse Society and Government Society is people coming together as one to accomplish things that can't be done by one individual 



A government is an association to protect the people from their own wrongdoings A government is made up of a society Without a society a government is not needed A strong central government should follow its people Protect the nation Give equal rights to everyone We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness Jefferson implies that all men are created equally and gifted by their creator God with rights of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness that can not be taken away or denied The Declaration of Independence U S Constitution and Common Sense by Thomas Paine are all powerful documents that makeup America Thomas Jefferson James Madison and Thomas Paine are all individuals An individual can make a huge impact in the lives of millions Jefferson by giving independence to America Madison for limiting power and Paine for supporting one and another This is what we call a society
