DDU GKY has a target of skilling 3 4 lakh women during 12th Five Year Plan period against which 1 7 lakh women candidates have been imparted skill training and 1 32 lakh women candidates have been placed in jobs as of June 2015 As well the National Skill Development Corporation NSDC a one of its kind Public Private Partnership PPP model in India under the Ministry of Skill Development Entrepreneurship MSDE is joining hands with Shri Mahila Sewa Sahakari Bank Limited promoted by Self Employed Women's Association SEWA for the project Kaushalaya to provide Rs 31 80 crores as loan and Rs 7 96 crore as grant The objective of the project is to provide skills training to 1 37 lakh informal economy women workers in 8 priority sectors over the next decade in Gujarat and creating access to finance for more than 96 000 informal economy women workers to procure skills and invest in livelihood

 The National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015 developed by the Ministry of Skill Development Entrepreneurship MSDE discusses special mechanisms in delivery of training such as mobile training units flexible afternoon batches training based on local needs etc to ensure participation of women Training in non traditional fields for women will be promoted through the establishment of specific training programmes that focus on life skills training modules and literacy training The policy also promotes increasing the pool of women trainers and providing them certification by earmarking a certain percentage of intake in training of trainers institutes for women New institutes exclusively for training of women as trainees and trainers has also been promoted by the Government As per the policy women related issues were to be incorporated in the guidelines for skill training procedures These could include issues of safe and gender sensitive training environment employment of women trainers and equity in remuneration and complaint redressal mechanism An internet or mobile based platform for women employment by connecting skilled women and employers was also to be promoted Efforts were also made to encourage women entrepreneurs through appropriate incentives for women owned businesses under the public procurement process 




To support and facilitate women entrepreneurs the scheme spoke of developing gender neutral incubation accelerator network of mentors industry resource centres and credit institutes Aajeevika scheme for skill development under National Rural Livelihoods Mission renamed by the government as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana mandated of reaching out to 100 million rural poor in 6 lakh villages across the country with a special focus on women who are considered as representatives of their respective households NRLM strives towards unleashing the entrepreneurial capability of the rural poor by creating appropriate platforms for the poor through dedicated and sensitive support structures NRLM has instituted many schemes for women such as the Interest Subvention Scheme on Credit to Women SHGs in rural areas on credit upto Rs 3 lakhs at 7 per annum financial assistance in the form of revolving funds for a period of 3 6 months vulnerability reduction fund to address food and health security issues to the tune of Rs 1500 per member and community investment support fund to undertake collective socio economic activities Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Limited MUDRA was launched as a Financial Institution on 8th April 2015 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister for supporting the last mile financial institutions banks Microfinance Institutions MFIs Non Banking Financial Institutions NBFCs and other lending institutions which are in the business of lending to micro enterprises engaged in manufacturing trading services and other income generating activities MUDRA provides refinance Credit Guarantee and other development support to these lending institutions to expand their outreach and providing support for funding the unfunded 


Out of a total of 3 49 crore accounts opened a whopping 79 per cent 2 76 crore women were funded under PMMY The scheme can benefit a wide range of people from women who want to start business at home to businesses that would require an investment of up to Rs 10 lakh The Ministry of Women and Child Development was constituted with the prime intention of addressing gaps in State action for women and children To promote women's empowerment and gender equity MoWCD has established programs such as the National Commission for Women to improve the status of women and work for their economic empowerment and Rashtriya Mahila Kosh to undertake activities for the promotion of credit as an instrument of socio economic change and development through the provision of package of financial and social development services to demonstrate and replicate participatory approaches in the organization of women's groups for effective utilization of credit resources leading to self reliance to promote and support experiments in the voluntary and formal sector using innovative methodologies to promote research study documentation and analysis to promote the federation and net working of women's organisations for shaping exchange of experience and information and to develop skills in response management social mobilization to promote and support the expansion of entrepreneurship skills among women and promote and support grassroot level societies and organisations and other participatory structures for providing for women effective access to decision making
