Vacation is the one word that no matter how old you are it makes you happy and excited I love vacations because there is no school no homework and lots of sleep But unlike me for a lot of people vacation is going out exploring the world I was born and raised in India Even though I haven't seen many places in India I know about a lot of them which I want to visit at least one in my life And not just me but every person who visits India should definitely go to these places at least once Some of the best places to visit in India include Mughal Empire landmarks like the Taj Mahal Red Fort Jama Masjid and many more Before visiting any tourist place it is important to know a little history and some facts about it in order to enjoy the site to its fullest Starting from North India one place that immediately crosses my mind when I think about the tourist places in India is Taj Mahal Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world The symbol of love that's what Taj Mahal is It was built in the year 1632 by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal Shah Jahan married Mumtaz when he was 19 Mumtaz Mahal died giving birth to the couple s 14th child When Mumtaz was on her deathbed Shah Jahan promised her that he will build the most beautiful mausoleum for her Mumtaz Mahal s remains are preserved in a tomb which is the center of the monument Shah Jahan was laid to rest in a tomb next to Mumtaz Mahal's tomb inside the Taj Mahal
The most interesting thing about Taj Mahal is that it has a different color depending on the time of the day Red Fort is another architect build by Shah Jahan As one can assume the red fort is named after the color of the stone that it is built in that is red It was built in 1638 and it was the capital of the Mughal Empire for more than 200 years Every year on the Independence Day the Prime Minister of India appraises the Tirangaa national flag and delivers a speech For tourists there is a sound and light show every evening describing the history of Mughal Empire Now let s move a little to the south central region of India How can one not talk about Mumbai when it comes to tourist attractions Mumbai the capital city of Maharashtra state and one of the most popular and busiest cities in India
Mumbai is the 4th most populous city in the world with the approximate population of 20 million people Mumbai is also known as the city of dreams people come here in order to achieve their dreams No matter what you want to be or what you want to do you will find a place in this city I lived in the city for 4 years and I can say that those were the best years of my life One of the most popular places to visit in Mumbai is the Gateway of India It was built in 1913 to celebrate the visit of King George Vand Queen Mary to Mumbai Haji Ali Dargah is also one of the popular sites to visit It is an island mausoleum holding the tomb of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari a Muslim saint It is said that whatever wish you would ask for there is fulfilled Not a place to visit but definitely an experience that one must have is traveling in the Mumbai local trains The platforms are so crowded that in the words of the comedian Kenny Sebastian There are so many people around you that sometimes when you are walking you don't know if you are moving That is because there are a bunch of people walking in the same direction that it gets confusing If anyone ever visits
Mumbai the local train is the one experience they should never miss out on Moving further south one place that is on every person s list of Places to visit in India is Goa the ultimate holiday destination No matter what time day and month of the year it is Goa is one of the places which is always filled with people Not only with the people in India but people from another country who are visiting India The most popular place in Goa is Baga Beach Once you enter the beach you will see a variety of people of different nationalities races castes religions skin color everything The most fun fact about goa is it has around 7000 bars and all of them are licensed to serve alcohol Coming to South India Kerala is covered with trees For a person who loves nature it is equivalent to haven Kerala was named as one of the ten paradises of the world by the National Geographic Traveler magazine
