The live-web layer
What Premium's live web search adds at check time, how it differs from the indexed corpus, and its honest limits.
Every check runs against Noplag's indexed corpora — a large web snapshot, Wikipedia, academic sources, and the Noplag Database. The live-web layer, included on Premium and Enterprise plans, additionally searches the live web at check time and fetches candidate pages fresh.
What it adds
The indexed corpus is a snapshot; the web moves. The live-web layer covers the gap:
- Recent content — articles, posts, and pages published after the last index update.
- Fresh verification — matched web sources are fetched at check time, so the match reflects what the page says now, not what it said when indexed.
In practice this matters most for journalism, content marketing, and any setting where the likely source of copying is days or weeks old rather than years old.
How it appears in a report
Live-web sources appear in the source list like any other source, with the matched passages and links out to the page. Viewing a match in context opens the source with the overlapping text highlighted in place.
Honest limits
Best-effort, by nature
Search engines decide what they return, and pages behind paywalls or logins can't be fetched. Absence of a live-web match is not proof the text isn't on the web somewhere.
- It extends the same engine — verbatim and near-verbatim detection. It does not add paraphrase detection.
- Checks with the live-web layer can take somewhat longer, since pages are fetched during the check.
Plans
See Billing and plans. Free and Pro checks run against the indexed corpora only.
